2215 eheim manual

If possible, have someone with you to help you clean it the first times. Having a second pair of hands helps when trying to hold the tubes and the buckets to catch water! So, close all four valves. Then have a container ready. You can also open the top of the filter once it has emptied by undoing the clips and, over another container or in the sink to catch the water, pour this water into the filter, with the intake bottom valve open to rewash it again.

If you need to rinse the media, do so in tank or water conditioner treated water so as to not kill your biofilter. After checking everything including the impeller, refer to the instructions , wet the O-ring with tank water, put the media in the proper order, clip the top properly. I put my bioballs in a mesh bag to facilitate cleaning, that way they are separate from the mechanical filter. Now, when reconnecting, you have to remember that the canister is now full of air and turning it on with air inside is no good as it was not designed for operation with air.

So, reconnect the intake valves together first, but not the outtake valves yet. Have another container close by. Now point the outtake valve on the filter into this bucket. Very slowly, open the intake valve on the filter first, followed by the one on the tube on the tank after. This will allow the tank water to flow back into the filter, pushing all the air out.

I use a turkey baster inserted in the outtake valve to start the suction. You will hear the air gushing out and the water coming in so be ready because when all the air is out, water will come out of the outtake valve at the top, hence why you need the bucket to catch the water.

Once the water has entered and completely filled the filter it has come back out through the outtake valve at the top , you can close both intake valves, reconnect both outtake valves and reopen the outtake valves first and then the intake valves. You can now replug the filter. Sometimes there is still air inside, I gently rock the canister from side to side to help expel the air until I do not hear any noise air causes noise in the filter if present.

In general, I tend to follow the Phyllis Ringstand method you can do a search on internet and the article should come up, if you find it print it as it is a keeper! I usually go 6 mths -1 year between cleaning but this depends on many factors tank, bioload, plants, etc.

I know this was long and complex, please post back if you have questions or need clarifications or if I missed a step. I tried to write it as simple as possible but it is still complex and easier to show than to write! Hopefully others will see your post and write what they do, everyone has their own way! Good luck! The Eheim Classic chamber canister design allows for the greatest flexibility in media set up for biological mechanical chemical and absorptive filtration.

With this exceptional filtration system, you'll get both mechanical and biological purification, constant water circulation and oxygen enrichment in one compact system. A period of 8 weeks between cleaning should, however, be possible; with shorter cleaning intervals bacterial activity will suffer.

It's virtually silent while operating aquaclears get noisy at times. I love both of my new eheim canister filters and I'll yeah i should have bought an eheim canister filter years ago. I love both of my new eheim canister filters and I'll be getting a third! Highly recommended … more. My only complaint is the same as most: The instructions are virtually nonexistent.

I have always been a fan of Eheim canister filters and have purchased many over the years. My experience has always been good so when I setup another aquarium, this was my go to filter. However, to my surprise and dismay, the motor died after being in operation for less than two months.

The water becomes literally yellow. When I finally got one, it worked flawlessly!! Is absurd!! Gotta Have An Eheim. I like it so far. I hope it lasts and lasts for years. I bought this for my 75 gallon planted aquarium based on Eheim's reputation for quality.

I was replacing a less expensive but much more user friendly canister filter that developed a leak that I was unable to fix. A leaking canister filter is the death of a hardwood floor, so reviews stating that the Ehiem was the least leak-prone option was the deciding factor.

This filter costs three times what other similar capacity canister filters cost, so my expectations were high. The gasket on the lid is a silicone ring, not a rubber band, so hopefully it will last a long time. On the plus side, the filter is very quiet.
